On Jan. 10, the Seogwipo City Seobu Public Health Center stated that it has administered the Tamiflu vaccination to 12 patients suspected to be infected with the disease in the Daejung and Anduk districts.
The Seogwipo Public Health Center has confirmed that nine patients in its district have been diagnosed with the influenza this year, while the Dongbu Public Health Center administered the vaccine to six patients suspected to be contaminated with the disease.
As the number of those infected increases, the Seobu Public Health Center is on alert, monitoring clinics, pharmacies, and organizational facilities to prevent further expansion.
Until 8 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends, emergency teams are working to safeguard high-risk citizens including infants and toddlers under 59 months of age, pregnant women, senior citizens over 65, and chronic patients. Those deemed as high-risk are administered an anti-virus vaccine at public health centers free of charge. Moreover, child care and nursing facilities are instructed on personal hygiene care and provided with anti-germ soap.
Oh Keum Ja, the director of the Seobu Public Health Center, said, “13 infection report centers, including public health centers, community health posts and disease monitoring network comprised of clinics, pharmacies, and organizational facilities, will be closely watched to prevent further infections and treat patients with immediacy.”
