A SBS drama called “Paradise Ranch,” set on Jeju Island, just started nationwide syndication, running Monday and Tuesday nights from Jan. 24.
According to the Jeju Film Commission (JFC), “Paradise Ranch” will have 16 episodes and was filmed on Jeju and in Australia. The head of the JFC, Im Won Sik, told reporters that 70 percent of on-location filming occured on Jeju.
The JFC helped with financing and locations. Filming started in December 2009 and wrapped up 6 months later. Locations included Hannam Ranch in Seogwipo City, Udo and other places throughout Jeju Island.
The story is of a 19-year-old Jeju woman and a 21-year-old man, the son of a rich conglomerate owner, who get married in spite of family opposition. After just 6 months they divorce. The story picks up 7 years later when they meet on Jeju.
A JFC official said that in light of the majority of the drama being filmed here, “It is expected that Jeju's beautiful scenery, the coastal road and its vast plains, among other places, will be promoted nationwide.”
