Jeju United achieved victory in their K-League home opening game.
On March 6 at 3 p.m., Jeju United went through the Hyundae Oil Bank K-League 1st round game for 2011 with Busan at the Jeju World Cup Stadium.
Jeju, which ranked second in the regular season last year with 17 wins, 8 ties, and 3 losses, played Busan, which ranked ninth with 8 wins, 9 ties, and 11 losses. Jeju started the K-League season with a thrilling come-from-behind victory, 2-1.
Even though Jeju lost their first round game of the Asian Champions League’s to China’s Tianjin Teda by 0-1, it showed their power as a former second-ranking team in the regular season by winning the game against Busan.
Last February, Jeju overpowered Busan 1-0 in a regular season match that was held at the main stadium of Busan Asiad. Jeju also beat Busan last August 1-0 in a game that was held at Jeju World Cup Stadium. The home game recall system, currently active, is the system that grants free admission for the next home game to those who attended the previous home game that the team had lost. Jeju United adopted the system this season.
Jeju allowed spectators who attended the home game against Tianjin Teda on March 1, to watch the K-League opening match on March 6 for free. Jeju was beat by Tianjin 0-1, in front of 4,638 people in the stands.
