On Sept. 14, Jeju Kimnyoung Maze Park continued its nine year support of Jeju National University (JNU) with a donation of 50 million won (US$45,000).
Kimnyoung Maze Park began giving to the university in 2003 with a 30 million won ($27,000) donation for scholarships and development funds. The park has donated money to the university every year since then.
The total amount donated by Kimnyoung Maze Park is over 438 million won ($396,000), including funds for hiring foreign professors, aid for foreign students, and scholarships for exchange students.
The Jeju Kimnyoung Maze Park, owned and operated by former JNU Professor Fredrick Dustin, uses more than 80 percent of its income to support the community through funding the Kimnyeong Seniors Center, Sehwa Seniors Center, Kimnyeong Elementary School, and Gimnyeong Middle School.
JNU presented Dustin with an Honorary Management doctorate degree at the school’s 54th anniversary in 2006.
