The Former Minister of Culture, Lee Ah Ryung, and Jeju-born actress Ko, Du-Shim, have been appointed as honorary consultant and cultural ambassador respectively of the coming September Delphic Games in Jeju. As a precursor to the games, which have been called the “cultural Olympics,” Ko Du-Shim followed Delphi’s traditional ritual at the sacred Castalian Spring at the Temple of Apollo in Greece on July 25. In addition, a commemorative ceremony with Delphic citizens was also held in Delphi, Greece on the same day.
Lee Jong Duck, chairman of the organizing committee, leads the global cultural event preparation plans. Under the theme of “Turning into Nature,” the Third Delphic Games are will feature approximately 800 cultural artists from more than 40 different countries who will show off their cultural and artistic diversity in Jeju City Sept. 9-15. Venues will include Halla-dom, Shinsan Park and Jeju Culture and Art Center.
