The Jeju Foreign Language High School is experiencing a downward trend in applications for enrollment in the institution. Its competition rate has decreased each year for the past three years.

According to the school, 174 prospective middle school students have submitted their applications for 105 openings.

The admission office annually admits 25 students for each major: English, Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese, with five students accepted through special admission.

Those who passed the document screening will be announced on Oct. 29 and will be asked to attend an interview on Nov. 18. The final announcement will be made on Nov. 25.

However, as fewer and fewer applicants are submitting applications, the competition ratio is decreasing annually, from 2.81 to 1 in 2009, 2.17 to 1 in 2010 and 1.17 to 1 in 2011.
