----Course takes about six hours to complete
Grade: 40.5 (10th overall)
Natural scenery and landscape
Conditions of the trail
Environmental damage / lack of footprint on the area
Crowd control / compared to how many people are using trail
Strengths:Within the first four kilometers, hikers face Malmi and Al oreums, a decent start. After inland wanderings, halfway through the course hits the coast and stays close by the sea until the end. The ultimate highlight is Seongsan Sunrise Peak, one of the best peaks on the island, and a wealth of educational information is offered around the grounds. It finishes strong on long stretching Gwangchigi Beach. Sentimentally, this is Olle’s first course. In addition, good bathroom facilities are found all around.
Weaknesses:The litter is definitely apparent in two primary spots, at the very beginning and at the close on Gwangchigi Beach displaying washed up sea waste.
English learning opportunities:Malmi Oreum, Al Oreum, salt fields of Jongdal-ri, Jongdal-ri Beach, Seongsan Sunrise Peak (multiple), Gwangchigi Beach
Quotable:“While there are constant reminders of modernity around - motorbikes, plastic coverings on gardens, and powered digging equipment - seeing a woman clearing her own field can take a walker back to a simpler time.” -- Veronica Fortune, Jeju Weekly
