After polls closed at 6 p.m., the National Election Commission announced that 54.3 percent of eligible voters exercised their right to vote for the South Korean 19th General Election.

In Jeju, which had just under 450,000 eligible voters in three districts, Seogwipo had the highest turnout rate of 60.8 percent, followed by Jeju City District A (54.5 percent), and Jeju City District B (52.1 percent).

According to an election exit poll conducted from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. today by KBS, MBC, and SBS through three major research agencies (TNS Research Korea, the Korea Research Center, and Media Research), all three Democratic United Party candidates are in the lead.

The question was asked to every fifth person exiting 2,484 polling stations nationwide. It had a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 to 5.1 percentage points.

The poll showed that for Jeju District A, Kang Chang Il (DUP) is in the lead with 45.3 percent of possible voters, followed by Hyun Kyung Dae (Saenuri Party) with 39.2 percent. The two independents, Jang Dong Hoon and Ko Dong Soo each had 12.8 and 2.7 percent.

In Jeju City District B, incumbent Kim Woo Nam is far in the lead with 70.2 percent, followed by Kang Jung Hee (18.0 percent), and Jun Woo Hong (11.8 percent).

In Seogwipo District, DUP candidate Kim Jae Yoon has 40.2 percent, followed by Kang Ji Yong (32.5 percent), and Moon Dae Lim (27.3 percent).
