I love my smartphone. I want to share some of my favorite Android apps with you. These are my staple apps that I can't live without. Hope you will find them helpful in your “smart life” too. If you have anything else to add, please do share. I'm always on the lookout for apps that make my life easier.

In no particular order...

1. OTO Free International
This is only good for friends who are living in Korea because you can only call from within Korea. You can make long distance calls to anywhere in the world via your phone's “regular minutes.” No need to pay long distance charges again! (You can only call from within Korean)

***JaxtrSMS Free texting to anywhere in the world via your phone's data connection. This will send directly to your friend's phone and they can directly reply to that text and have it sent back to your phone. This is really texting (across carriers... international waters... etc.), NOT messaging.

2. Lotte Cinema App
Check when your favorite movie is showing via dates, theatre location, movie screening, etc. You can even purchase your tickets from your phone.

3. IMDB
Not sure when the official opening of a movie is? Whose that familiar face in the movie? What are some upcoming blockbusters? I love browsing all the new trailers for upcoming movies on this app. Great for bus rides or short attention spans ;)

4. Daum Maps
Never be lost again in Korea. Includes directions and different methods to get to your destination.

5. ¸ð¹ÙÀÏ T world
If you are with SK Telecom, you get 50 free text messages monthly. By using this app to send your messages, you can save yourself some extra cash. Plus view your phone bill LIVE, know when you are at the end of your minutes, the amount owing from last month/this month/next month, find out and keep track of your phone bill. You must make a SK login first to access this app.

6. NH Bank + NH Card
Mobile banking. Check how much moola you still got in the bank.

7. Naver
The all powerful Korean search engine. If all else fails, use Naver.

8. Coupang
Korea's equivalent to Groupon. Daily deals. You can buy directly from your phone. Be warned though, it's quite easy to become addicted and 'overusing' this particular app...You'll need to create a login.

9. Daum tvPot
If you missed your favorite Korean TV show. Good chance that clips of it can be found here. I catch my KPOP STAR snippets here and listen to all the amazing singing again in the bus ride to/from work.

10. ³ë·¡¹æ Ã¥ °Ë»ö (NoraeBook)
Hate flipping through the noraebang's paper song books? It all can be found on this simple app.

11. ½º¸¶Æ®¿ù·¿ - ´ëÇѹα¹ ´ëÇ¥ ¸ð¹ÙÀÏÁö°© Smart Wallet
You can load your Happy Point, T Membership cards, Lotte, CJ ONE, Tony Moly, etc membership cards into this simple app. It will display exactly how many points you have up to the minute. I don't carry my membership cards anymore, I just scroll through and give the clerk the screen with the barcode and they zap it from my phone. It's pretty cool. Plus there is a coupon section where you can pre-buy items (like Krispy Kreme donuts, Starbucks, etc.) and redeem in store.

And in case you didn't know, if you are an SK Member, you can make a membership card (free) and be rewarded with 30,000 points every year. You can redeem these points at participating shops/restaurants for discounts. I highly recommend asking for one to be sent to you in the mail or load it up on this app. Discounts at: GS25, Paris Baguette, etc.
