Danger Man

No.39 Santos Jr.

This diminutive striker has been a scoring threat all season and, with netting the winner (his 7th of the season) in their latest game against Sangju Sangmu before the K League break, Santos is on par to surpass last year’s 14 goal performance. If he doesn’t score expect him to set up either Jair or Robert for the finish.

No.20 Lee Dong Gook

Tied with Santos in 3rd in scoring with 7 goals, Lee hasn’t been able to hit the net since Jeonbuk played Incheon on May 5. Though in somewhat of a dry spell Lee has a knack for scoring first goals as well as scoring in injury time. Expect the three-week break to have done Lee some good.

Odds (Source oddschecker.com)

Jeju 7/5

Sangju Sangmu Phoenix FC 13/8, Draw 12/5

Overview

This is going to be a good one.

Both teams are neck and neck with Jeju United in the lead by only a single point (Orange 28, Jeonbuk 27). Other than that, and one more loss by the Motors, these teams have been pretty much mirror images of one another all season. Both have 27 goals for. Both have 15 against. And both are currently a win away from first.

This will be the first game back from the three-week break for both teams, and with a lot at stake, they should come out humming. They are tied in the K-League for the most goals this season with 27, five more than the next two teams, FC Seoul and the Suwon Bluewings so there are going to be lots of scoring chances.

A win would be big for Jeju since their next game is against the current second place Suwon who the Orange only trail by a point. The Bluewings are a difficult team to beat so a win against Jeonbuk would keep them in the top five spots. Two losses and they could be severely knocked down the ladder.

The Weekly predicts a close game that sees Jeju edging out Jeonbuk Motors 2-1.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo.
