Danger Man
|
No. 39 Santos Jr.
Coming off a great performance that resulted in a goal in the Orange’s FA Cup win on Wednesday, Santos Jr. is easily this team’s Danger Man. In Jeju’s last match against Pohang on April 14, Santos recorded two goals. He currents sits in a 5-way tie for third on the top scorers chart with 7.
|
No. 27 I. Zicu
The Romanian striker leads his team with 6 goals, but has not scored in the K-League since he netted his 6th against Jeju on April 14. He plays well with D. Asamoah who has been scoring of late. If Zicu doesn’t score expect him to help Asamoah hit mesh.

Overview
The last time these two teams met was on April 14 when Jeju United defeated the Pohang Steelers 3-2 away. Jeju got off to a nice 3-1 lead in the first half, but Pohang was able to sneak in one of their own during the opening 15 minutes of the second 45’ to make it a one goal game, though they were unable to tie it up.
Pohang, with winning 3 of their last 5 K-League games, look to be bouncing back from a terrible April and June when they only won 4 of 11 games.
Jeju, on the other hand, look to be heading into a slide and are now 2 wins behind 3rd place Suwon Bluewings, which if they beat Gangwon FC tomorrow (which they probably will), and the Orange lose to Pohang, Jeju will drop further behind in points and in the standings.
It will probably be a tough game, but even with key players injured Jeju have been pretty strong at home all season so the Steelers will be on an uphill climb if they want to leave the island with 3 points.
The Weekly’s predicts that United take it 2-1.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at Jeju World Cup Stadium, Seogwipo City.
