According to a press release, the team has granted the 31-year-old defender’s request to be transferred. Ma, who has not played a single game for the Orange during the 2012 K-League season, asked to be moved due to his lack of time on the pitch.
Ma has been with Jeju since 2009 making a total of 61 appearances. He has been playing professional football in Korea since 2003, accumulating 156 K-League appearances.
He will be replacing former Jeonbuk defender Choi Chul Soon who was moved to Sanju Sangmu, the team for players who are serving their mandatory military service.
During the announcement of his transfer on July 4, Ma said that Jeju — the team and the city — is “like my hometown.” He added, “I have spent a long time with Jeju and when I first decided to move to Jeonbuk I was so sad. However it will be a good gift for Jeju. I can show my good ability to both the Jeju and Jeonbuk fans.”
