Jeju Provincial Office of Education held a foundation stone ceremony for KIS High School, at the Global Education City in Daejeong-eup, on May 14.
The management corporation YBM JIS had its investment plans approved by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province superintendent on Feb. 19.
The school building should be completed by Aug. 19, with a capacity of 480 students, 20 classes from 9-12 grades. However, if these plans are not realized the first semester of KIS High School will be temporarily housed within KIS Middle and Elementary Schools. KIS plans to complete the teachers’ building by the first half of 2014.
The school will follow the AERO (American Education Reaches Out) curriculum and Korean students must have completed Korean language and Korean history subjects to qualify for admission.
There are currently three international schools open at the Global Education City and Branksome Hall Asia and NLCS Jeju already provide classes up to second grade of high school. |
