Oliver Stone spent the day touring Jeju Island and joined with the Gangjeong peace march on Aug. 3rd to show his support for the protestors fighting to stop the construction of a navy base in Gangjeong Village, Seogwipo City. After arriving on Jeju on Aug. 2 he spent the morning briefly visiting Gangjeong Village before joining the march as it arrived in Jeju City. He then briefly spoke in Tapdong Square, Jeju City.
Stone said that the naval base is part of the "Asia pivot" being constructed by the United States and that Jeju was going to be "on the frontline" of any future conflict. He pledged to increase his support and ensure the world knows about the movement and Jeju Island.
On Sunday, Aug. 4 a human chain will be formed by protestors at Gangjeong VIllage in the final event of this year's march. The event starts at 12 noon.
