Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is looking to increase cooperation between Jeju and Ha Long Bay, Quáng Ninh Province, Vietnam after an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed to develop tourism and establish direct flights between the two regions.
Further cooperation will include tourism industry promotion, developing knowledge exchange, experience and skills. There are also plans to establish similar relationships with the Philippines and other regions from December.
“Jeju and Quáng Ninh provinces are very famous for their natural scenery and the potential for development is very high. With this business agreement, both cities’ tourism will develop,” said Kang Seung Su, general director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration.
According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, work is ongoing for an MOU with the Philippines from December and Indonesia and other regions will be added next year. Such tourism collaboration is being developed on the basis of New 7 Wonders of Nature sites and a global net-work will be established with tourism products developed through marketing campaigns.
The New 7 Wonders of Nature sites are: Jeju Island in Korea, Halong Bay in Vietnam, Puerto Princesa Underground River in the Philippines, Amazon in Brazil, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, Komodo National Park in Indonesia and Table Mountain in South Africa.
