Despite the wide spread concerns about N1H1 flu, the 47th annual convention of the WBC (World Boxing Council) will be held in Jeju as scheduled from November 1-7.

At the press conference, the Secretary General of Korean Boxing Council, Ryu Moung?-woo, former world champion, said that more than 2,000 people from over 80 member nations, including WBC officers and their families, are expected to visit Jeju for the week-long annual gathering. Several famous former champions are also expected to join the convention.

Ryu added that "it is yet uncertain, at this time whether Mike Tyson will come to Jeju. The president of WBC, Jose Sulaiman, is contacting Tyson, and KBC is waiting for the conversation results." It is a matter of interest among boxing fans that Tyson is currently asking for $30,000 as an invitation fee.

The opening ceremony will be take place at 10am on Nov. 2 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Jeju City, where workshops, confederation meetings, will also be held until the Nov. 6.
