A new website offering wide-ranging information and advice for Jeju settlers will be established by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The service is needed in response to rapid population growth as more people move to Jeju for a rural lifestyle.
The Jeju population hit 600,000 people in August as people escape the city and as baby boomers, retirees, and foreigners move to Jeju. The net population inflow - those moving in minus those moving away - went from 437 in 2010, to 2,342 in 2011, and finally to 4,873 last year. Accordingly, it was felt that a customized and comprehensive online system for those settling in Jeju was essential for successful community integration.
