Today, Jeju is not only a beautiful tourism place also a hot spot for global business. Jeju has become Northeast Asia’s Education Hub. The Global Education City is a center of that hub. Jeju Global Education City is in the Daejun-eup area, Seogwipo City. While the city has been under construction since 2008, it is not expected to reach completion until 2015. The purpose of the city is as an ‘International school, resident-business facilites, English education center, education-cultural arts park, foreign education institions(university, graduate school)’ The planned population of this city is about 23,000 people by 2017. The city expects to house 12,280 students and 2, 393 teachers.

There are three main stragies for the Jeju Global Education city Bussiness. First,it strives to be a luxurious education city with optimum education environmets. Second, the plans involve creating an eco-friendly city with a blessed natural environment. Lastly, the city seeks to become an international city with global competitiveness. The goal of the citiy is “Creating a serene Global Education City where education and everyday life is in English.”

In the Jeju Global Education City, there are three international schools:NLCS (North London Collegiate School) Jeju, KIS (Korean International School) Jeju, BHA (Branksome Hall Asia).

NLCS(North London Collegiate School) Jeju was the first international school built inside the Jeju Global City. The school was constructed in September 2011.

Branksome Hall Asia (BHA) is the third international school established in Jeju Global Education City, opening in October, 2012. This school was establish and run by Hayoul(ÇØ¿ï), a subsidiary of the JDC(Jeju free international Development Center). BHA enrolls 1,212 girls aged six to eighteen and most of them are from Korea, especially the mainland, but there are also students from different nations, especially China.

The principal of BHA, Glen Radojkovich said, “BHA’s duties in Jeju are to study English, and help students maximize their English skills. Our school’s education facilities are as grand as a foreign universary campus. So Sudents can have global education and they can recognized their disposition.”
