Eight student artists from North London Collegiate School Jeju (NLCS Jeju) hosted an art exhibition of painting and sculptures at the international school at Jeju Global Education City, Daejeong-eup, on March 28.

The students displayed skills developed over two years through the IB (International Baccalaureate) visual art course and are expected to be among the first graduates from the JGEC in June.

The advanced and intensive course covered a range of fields in 40-minute sessions held daily over a week. Each class focused on a particular topic and explored various approaches through student participation. Students researched and planned their own work based on their own interest areas.

It was the first time student Lee Chae-yoon had taken the course. She was greatly touched by Jeju’s nature and felt many emotions that she hadn’t experienced in England. She was then inspired to explore this further by her teacher and chose to study Eastern and Western emotions in architectural design.

The students from the course are awaiting their IB tests in May. Currently 46 students have received admittance to universities including Oxford and Cambridge in the UK, and Ivy League institutions including Yale and Princeton in the US.
