On May 17, 2014 the JDC’s chairman, Kim Han-wook, held a press conference with students who were visiting the Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC). The JDC is a company which was built by the Jeju government. The JDC has done many things for Jeju Island. They have been in charge of creating various improvements like the Jeju Science and Technology Park, English Education City, Health Care Town, and the Air and Space Museum.

Kim Han-wook is in his first year as chairman of the JDC. He talked about the meaning of a free internatonal city. He said ”A free international city is a place where people, goods and capital movements are free. The JDC developed many things to improve Jeju island.”

The JDC’s upcoming projects include the Second Science and Technology Park, Ocean Marina City and the International Cultural Complex. JDC prepare many projects to increase visitors and toursim, as well as to help the economy of Jeju Island.

Kim showed the students a promotional video. The video was about the JDC’s achievements as well as their current and future projects. Kim and the students talked about the programs planned from JDC that will affect young people the most. Kim said “We used sound capital and developed Jeju, and also tried to give many opportunities to students.

Kim ended the conference by stating that he likes the Health Care Town and the English Education City because these two projects are very helpful for the people of Jeju Island. He showed a video vision about plans to improve life for Jeju’s people. The JDC propel these projects because they affect tourists and Jeju's people. This includes the Seogwipo Saeyeon bridge(beautiful port). Kim Han-wook also talked about the meaning of a Free Internaional City. He wants to make Jeju a place where people live well and improve. It same reason that the JDC built the English Education City.
