It was announced Thursday by Lee Jeong-Hyeon and Lee Yong-seop, both members of the National Assembly’s Budget Settlement committee, that the National government's 2010 budget may allot funding to study the practicality of assembling an underwater high-speed rail line between Jeju and Mokpo city on the mainland. Critics are not convinced that it will be included in the budget, due to the estimated cost of 15 trillion won, which could be used to restore the countries four major rivers, a project that is Seoul’s present focus.
