At his weekly policy conference on July 21, Governor Won said that the province will come up with a blueprint for the review of development projects before any final decisions are made. The governor vowed there will be no more "easy approvals."
Won also urged cooperation between the Department of Urban Planning and the World Environmental Capital Planning Department when carrying out interim assessments.
“All assessment results or reviews should be made only after today’s issues have been wrapped up properly,” adding that the development projects currently attracting criticism from the public, “must not be passed without serious consideration of [their effects].”
Won stated that the blueprint for assessment will be completed this month and he will give particular attention to the Dream Tower and Myths and History Theme Park, two of the largest — and most controversial — of the current projects under review.
Won also hinted at a reshuffle and new personnel appointments in the second half of the year, which he asks staff not to be unsettled by. He also asked corruption inspectors to step up reporting to maintain discipline among government officials.
