Jeju beach season 2015 opens

Sandy stretches all around the island are putting up tents and welcome signs for high season.

2015 public opening of Jeju City beaches

Standard opening: July 1 to Aug 31 / 10am to 7pm / 7 beaches

Night opening(N): July 18 to Aug 16 / 7pm to 9pm / four beaches

Hamdeok Seowoobong (N), Iho Tewoo (N), Gwakji Gwamul, Hyeopjae (N), Geumneung Eutteumwon, Gimnyeong Seongsegi, Samyang Black Sand (N)

General facilities

Showers, cleaning facilities, toilets, camping, restaurants and vendors, performance areas and more.

*Basic facilities may not be available outside of designated times.

Hamdeok Seowoobong Beach

Hamdeok-ri, Jeju-si
Standard and night opening
With three separate beaches, open parkland and a towering Seowoobong Peak, Hamdeok is Jeju City’s tourist beach. Banana boats and leisure sports are common, as are music festivals, with Stepping Stone and the Salsa Festival held annually, making Hamdeok the place people go to “play” on Jeju.

Hamdeok Cool Summer Festival
The Stepping Stone Festival’ closes the ‘Cool Summer Festival’ and is packed full of music, dance and youth. There is also Muscle Mania, a world-famous body-building event.

Feel the heat as some of the world’s best bodybuilders ripple their muscles
Stepping Stone Festival
2-11pm, Saturday, July 11
Enjoy some of the country’s best bands and also fireworks, a flea market and various side and promotional events.

Gwakji Gwamul Beach and Hamdeok Seowoobong Beach
A salsa festival with passion, energy and the heat of a Jeju summer’s night

Iho Tewoo Beach
Iho-dong, Jeju-si
Standard and night opening
Closest to Jeju City, this beach has good facilities including a new swimming pool and recreational area. In summer there are often performances on a bandstand on the beach.
Festivals: Jeju Iho Taewoo Festival, Including traditional kayaking, fishing, wind surfing, traditional music (Early August).

Gwakji Gwamul Beach
Gwakji-ri, Jeju-si
Standard opening
Wide white sands, turquoise seas and good camping facilities make Gwakji extremely popular. There is also beautiful coastal path leading north to smaller cozier beaches.

Brocolli Meets the Beach Festival(Early August)
Bare-hand fishing, brocolli song festival, and various foods and beverages made of brocolli.

Geumneung Eutteumwon Beach

Hallim’s second beach, backed by a wooded campsite, is close by Hyeopjae and at high tide is almost completely underwater.

Gimnyeong Seongsegi Beach

This beach is famed for its clean water and yachts from a local club can often be seen on the water. A local dolphin pod is also very popular and is even attracting sightseers.

Samyang Black Sand Beach
Samyang 2-dong, Jeju-si
Standard and night opening
Officially a black sand beach of pulverized volcanic rock, it plays on the medicinal with a summer well-being festival. Being relatively close to the city it is also popular with locals.

Fun sand-based experiences such as sand bathing and sand sculptures.
