Shincheon-ri in Seongsan-eup, southeast Jeju Island, has been transformed into an art village after filmmakers painted murals in the village.
The village was used as the setting for the film ‘Sunshine’ last year and young filmmakers, artists and villagers joined forces to paint the colorful murals on village buildings.
Previously much like other quiet Jeju villages, Shincheon-ri now boasts 43 colorful murals celebrating Jeju life and culture.
Villagers also hope to establish a tourist information center to draw more visitors to the area.
