The Seogwipo Stockbreeding Farmers’ Cooperative Union announced that the horse meat produced by its members will be available at E-Mart, one of the nation’s biggest supermarkets.
Three branch stores in Jeju already sell Well-Meat, the horse meat brand of the cooperative union.
And from March next year, all 155 stores across the nation will carry the horse meat supplied by farmers of Jeju.
As distribution increases and sales surge, a union official said the farmers will work to ensure the quality of the meat also remains high.
The supermarket chain also stated it will work to distribute other livestock products from Jeju.
