Former Seogwipo city mayor Hyeong-su Kim has been named as the Representative Director of the International Convention Center Jeju, Jungmum.
Kim said in his inauguration speech, “I will create a vision with the revenue structure which won’t cause anxiety to shareholders. “I will designate this year as ‘the second foundation year’ for the better management of the center, and set up and push ahead with new challenging plans inheriting the spirit of Jeju citizens who have helped establish the center.”
He also said, “To stimulate profits besides the rental service of its usual business area of convention, the center will make efforts to turn the earnings structure to profitability by creating a range of cash cow facilities and business models, which needs to reanalyze the revenue projects when the center started.”
Kim said the ICC will look for ways to create profit through its joint ventures with the recently opened duty-free shop in the ICC, and the adjacent hotel slated for completion this year.
He noted that the ICC has had a favorable working relationship with the Jeju Provincial Government, and he expects that to continue.
The ICC plans to gather opinions from Jeju government and prominent experts and prepare the mid to long-term investment plans in order to get the lead in the fierce convention market at home and abroad, he said.
The new representative director holds office for three years.
