Jeju Beer Company's 'Jeju Wit Ale' has finally been released in cans and is available in convenience stores from today.
Originally released on draught in some bars and at its brewery last month, starting from today the beer will be available in convenience stores (GS25, CU, 7/11) as well as in some bigger supermarkets such as Homeplus, Lottemart, Hanaro Mart, Jesco Mart, and Martro.
We wanted to test their claims and its seems that it is indeed available from today as we found a can in a GS25 near to Jeju City Hall.
Having said that, it didn't seem to be in the CU just yet. The can we bought was priced at 4,200 won, putting it in a similar category to imported beers.
As the name suggests, the beer is a wit ale. This is a Belgian style of beer that is made with wheat and often has spices added.
The most famous version of the style is probably Hoegardden, a beer brand that is already well known and easy to buy in most marts and convenience stores in Jeju. As such, it will certainly be interesting to see how the Jeju brand beer is received.
