Now we are back at work after a ten-day vacation, the only thought on everyone's mind is sure to be, when is the next one!?

When it comes to public holidays in 2017 there is some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is that throughout the rest of 2017 there is only one more public holiday in Korea, Christmas day.

However, the good news is that Christmas Day is a Monday, meaning that it will result in a three-day long weekend!

2018 starts in a similar way. With New Years Day also falling on a Monday it means that the year will begin with a nice three day weekend.

If you are waiting for a slightly longer vacation, you will have to wait until Seollal (Lunar New Year) in mid-February. Seolal lasts for three days and next year falls on Feb. 15, 16, and 17.

How about the next Golden week?

While short days off are certainly always welcome, after the mammoth ten-day break we just experienced, they may seem a bit insufficient.

If you are wondering whether to start planning for another long vacation, then we have some bad news for you. This is because the next ten-day vacation won't be until October 2025.

Much like the holiday this year, in 2025 Chuseok, Hangeul Day, and National Foundation day will all be bunched close together with National Foundation Day being on Fri, Oct. 3, Chuseok running from Sunday, Oct. 5, to Tuesday, Oct, 7, and Hangeul Day being on Friday, Oct. 9.

Assuming that, like this year, Wednesday becomes a substitute public holiday and Thursday is given as an extra day off to complete the run, then that will result in another ten-day vacation.

Now, if only we didn't have to wait for eight more years that would be perfect!
