As of the end of September, the population of Jeju-si had reached 495,344 (477,013 Koreans and 3,721 foreigners).
This year, the population has grown by about 800 people every month. While this is a lot, it is a slightly slower increase than last year when the number of people grew by around 1000 every month.
However, despite this slight slowdown, the population of Jeju-si is expected to reach 500,000 people in the second half of next year.
The population of Jeju-si accounts for 72.7% of Jeju's total population (678,412 people). Split by gender, there are 246,784 men in the northern half of Jeju and only 243,750 women.
The parts of the region with the highest populations are Nohyeong-dong with 53,939 and Ido-2-dong with 50,124. Shin Jeju as a whole has a population of close to 100,000 people.
Out of the people living in Jeju-si, 52.9% of them live in the municipal area. A 3,810 person increase on last year.
