Island gas prices continue to climb, and recently surpassed the 1,760-won-per-liter mark. No relief is seen in sight for Jeju drivers as international oil prices are forecast to keep rising.

Average gas prices were 1,652 won per liter as of Jan. 4 but reached more than 1,700 won on Feb. 23rd. About 20 days later they rose again, reaching 1,739 won.

A KCTV report stated that some gas stations on the island were selling petrol at 1,765 won per liter.

Because of the logistical difficulties of delivering gas to Jeju, prices on the island average as much as 40 won higher than on the mainland.

Gas prices are expected to keep increasing as international crude oil prices hit record highs due to the devaluation of the U.S. dollar.
