Many of golf’s top stars are expected to play in the Ballantine’s Champion-ship at Jeju Island’s Pinx Golf Club from April 22 through 25.
Local favorite, Yang Yong Eun, will be hoping to continue his winning streak from last year when he won the Honda Classic and the PGA Champion-ship. Yang was the first Asian-born player to claim a major championship title with his win at Hazeltine in the PGA, where he beat third-round leader, Tiger Woods.
Anthony Kim, Ernie Els and Henrik Stenson have also confirmed to compete in the event, which will be in its third year.
In addition, many other Asian stars will be on hand, including the winner of last year’s event, Thongchai Jaidee from Thailand, and China’s No. 1 golfer Lian Wen Tong. The players will compete for 2.2 million Euro worth of prizes, or about 3.7 billion won at press time. The Ballantine’s Championship is sanctioned by the Korea PGA, Asian Tour and the European Tour and is the only European Tour event that takes place in Korea.
