With about 30 days left until Jeju elects a new governor in June, the campaign is heating up with islanders divided over eight candidates according to a survey released on April 21.
Woo Keun Min (Independent) was the favorite with a 22.2 percent approval rating, followed by Hyun Myung Kwan (Grand National Party, 19.5 percent) and Kang Sang Joo (Grand National Party, 14.5 percent). However, nearly 20 percent of voters are undecided, the survey found, underscoring the uncertainty of the final outcome.
The Korea Research Center questioned more than 1,000 registered voters in Jeju for the survey which was commissioned by The Halla Ilbo, a local daily newspaper. |
