The Third Haevichi Art Festival was held on Jeju Island from June 4 through 11, both to serve as an art market and to provide diverse cultural experiences for locals and visitors to the province.
Hyo Han, a general affairs team member of the Korean Cultural and Arts Centers Association, which organized the festival, said there were about 1,000 direct participants. Booths, seminars, showcases and presentations were held at Haevichi Hotel and Resort in Pyoseon, Seogwipo, while various performances were held at other venues around the island. All the special performances, including the Korean National Ballet performing “Swan Lake High-lights” and the musical “Menopause,” sold out, she said.
The first and second festivals, also centered on Haevichi, were exclusively for art and culture associates, Han said. “However, the third festival was designed to create opportunities for public audiences to experience various cultural contents via special performances in Jeju, and the showcases.”
She expected the next such festival would also be based at Haevichi Hotel and Resort.
