AGB Nielsen Media Research will add Jeju and Ulsan to their national television viewership ratings survey beginning this August.

The company has until now monitored 2,350 households in 11 key cities as a statistical proxy for the entire Korean audience. One hundred households from Jeju and another hundred from Ulsan will be added to that sample.

“Television viewing patterns vary by region,” said Hwang Deok Hyun, chief executive of AGB Nielsen Media Research.

“It is necessary to expand the survey area to accurately monitor the behavior of the national television audience.”

Jeju residents watch more than 300 minutes of television every day, higher than other cities in Korea, according to preliminary research conducted from July 7 to 13 by AGB Nielsen.
