A groundbreaking ceremony at the Jeju Global Education City on Aug. 4 will mark the start of construction of the Jeju campus for the prestigious North London Collegiate School. NLCS was the first international school to join the project as a partner and plans its first intake of students in September 2011.

Construction is also scheduled to begin this September on the tentatively named Jeju International School, which will be run by the Korean company YBM SISA. It is also slated to open in September 2011.

A third campus, named Branksome Hall Asia and owned by Canada’s Branksome Hall, is scheduled to break ground early next year and open in September 2012.

Provincial officials hope to attract 12 well-respected international schools to join the JGEC.
