The provincial government announced that more passengers on Jeju’s public bus system are using pre-paid transportation cards, also known as T-money.

The percentage of people using T-money increased from 43 percent of riders in 2007 to over 60 percent this year.

One of the reasons cited for this increase is a discount of 50 won per ride as well as the ability for riders to transfer to another bus within 60 minutes — free of charge.

The provincial government says it anticipates the number of people using T-money will steadily increase, in part because carrying the card is more convenient than counting out change.
