In an interesting development to tensions on Korean Peninsula, it has been reported that talks between North Korea officials and former U.S government officials will take place in October.
The meeting will reportedly be between North Korea's foreign ministry and former U.S State Department officials and scholars.
The meeting is what is known as a track 1.5 diplomacy meeting, which is a meeting between state officials on one side and non-officials on the other.
This compares to a track one meeting, which is between two official parties and a track two meeting, which is between two sets of non-official parties.
Speculation fromCNN suggests that the reason for the meeting is due to North Korea wanting an inside take on the current messages coming from the U.S, which jolt from insisting on the need to a peaceful resolution of the crisis to threats of devastation from the president.
