The 17th Mt. Halla Bracken Festival will be held at Namjoro, Sumang-li, Namwon-eup, Seogwipo City on April 23.
Various programs and events are prepared for this bracken [gosari, in Korean] festival, hosted by the committee for the Mt. Halla Bracken Festival. The slogan of the festival is “picking while walking.”
Major events include a bracken picking competition, Jeju dialect competition for children, an “experience program” where visitors can walk through a bracken farm, and a tuho [arrow throwing] event.
There will also be a bracken cooking contest, a singing contest, a quiz contest about bracken, a writing contest, and more. Many booths will be near the event hall, including to vote for Jeju in the New7Wonders of Nature campaign, a farmers’ market, local food restaurants, and face-painting booths.
“We prepared various events for people to enjoy together with nature and bracken, the representative spring herb,” said Kang Mun Chul, mayor of Namwon-eup.
