Chujado waters designated marine sanctuary
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has designated almost 1.2§´ of sea near Chujado, the islets north of Jeju, as a protected maritime area.
Over 120 marine species make their home in the waters near the coasts of Chuja includes 42 inhabited and uninhabited islands.
The Ministry will closely monitor the ecosystem in the protected area and draw up conservation strategies for rare species.
The Ministry plans to form an autonomous management committee in the area and develop regional tour programs.
