An American private school with a 170-year history will set up a campus in the Jeju Global Education City, a huge educational hub for southeast Asia.

The agreement was signed on Nov. 29 at an on-campus ceremony in the U.S attended by a delegation from Jeju Island including Chief Director Byon Jong-il from the Jeju Free International Development Center and officials from St. Johnsbury Academy.

St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju, as it will be known, is slated to open in Sept. 2015. It will accept 1,250 girls and boys between the grades of four and twelve. The Global Education City is already home to three international schools: Korea International School (KIS), the UK’s North London Collegiate School (NLCS), and Canada's Branksome Hall Asia (BHA).
