1-Tamna Valley

Reached via Gwanseumsa Temple, 180-1 san, Odeung-dong, Jeju-s

From JBT: #780 to Sancheondan Korea Polytechnics Uni. (23mins) / 77 to Gwaneumsa Temple (6mins / *Only runs on weekends) / Walk 7mins to Gwaneumsa Deungsan-ro

On the upper reaches of the Hancheon River on the north face of Mt. Hallasan, this stunning valley is divided into east and west, with the mysterious Ikki Falls to the east. Being high on Hallasan, the habitat here is refreshing thick woodland and birdlife abounds.

2-Bangseonmun Valley

Ora-dong, Jeju-si

From JBT: # 5 bus to Jeju Public Health Center (Jeju Bogeonso) / walk 3 minutes south (uphill)

This valley is again carved by the Hancheon River and Bangseonmun itself, included in the 10 most beautiful sites of Jeju, means “gateway of the heavens.” The valley is wooded and cool, and the end of the trail reveals huge rocks with historical engravings by poets and scholars.

3- Musucheon Valley

Gwangryonggyo Bridge (Pyeonghwa-ro), Haean-dong, Jeju-si

From JBT: #780 to Gwangryonggyo bridge (24mins)
From SBT: #780 to Gwangryonggyo bridge (1hr 3mins)

Close to the city, the Musucheon was so named as it was thought to ease people’s worries. If you move south from the bridge, up-mountain, amphitheater-like rocks will rise which cradle pools of mountain rain, and up at 1600 meters you will find waterfalls.

4- Andeok Valley

345-beonji Gamsan-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si

From JBT: #780 to Sangye 2-dong (46mins) / #702 to Andeok Valley Entrance (5mins)
From SBT: #702 to Andeok Valley Entrance (31mins)

Renowned Joseon-era scholar Chusa Kim Jeong-hee visited this low-cut valley with towering cliffs for contemplation. The relaxing path follows the tranquil Changgocheon River and passes some of Jeju’s earliest inhabited caves and pools perfect for summer paddling.

5- Cheonjeyeon Falls

27 Saekdal-ro 189-beongil, Seogwipo-si

From SBT: #702 to Jungmun Tourism Complex (24mins)
From airport: #600 to Jungmun Tourism Complex (1hr 8mins)

This fall’s name was put after king’s pond, and a story recounts how seven fairies took care of the king by playing in the pond every night. There are three parts to the falls: upper, middle and lower. Extremely rare Korean plants grow in this habitat.

6-Eongtto Falls

1587 Gangjeong-dong, Seogwipo-si

From Jeju World Cup Stadium: Walk Olle 7-1 to Eongtto Pokpo (no buses available)

These 50-meter-high falls are surrounded by fantastically shaped rocks and subtropical evergreens and must be seen after heavy rain. Eongtto means ‘big pond’ in Jeju language and despite its beauty, few people see the site due to its remoteness.

7-Cheonjiyeon Falls

14 Chilsimni-ro, Seogwi-dong, Seogwipo-si

From JBT: #780 to Namseong Maeul Ibgu (1hr 13mins) / Walk (5mins)
From SBT: #100 to Seomun Rotary (10mins) / Walk (5mins)

Compared to other Jeju falls, the most tourists visit here due to their beauty and convenient location. Various rocks of fantastic shapes combine with evergreens and subtropical plants give the landscape true beauty.

From JBT: #780 to Dongmun Rotary (1hr 11min) / Walk (13mins)
From SBT: #780 to Dongmun Rotary (14min) / Walk (13mins)

The only ocean waterfall in Asia, Jeongbang Waterfall is gorgeous when seen in summer. Ancient travelers wrote of the beauty of the falls such as Seobok, and the views to Mun and Seop Islands are breathtaking.

9-Donnaeko Valley

Clean water from Mt. Halla, fresh air, and great scenery ensure many people swim or hike here. The name ‘Donnnaeko’ recalls the wild pigs that used to drink the water here. A parking lot and camping site are available.

10-Soesokkak Valley

Seogwipo, Namwon-eup, Harye-ri

From JBT: #780 to Biseokgeori (1hr 7min) / #100 to Hyodon Middle School (8mins) / Walk to Olle 5 (15mins)
From SBT: #100 to Hyodon Middle School (32mins) / Walk to Olle 5 (15mins)

Hyodoncheon is the river that flows through the Donnaeko Valley and as the Hancheon represents Jeju City, the Hyodoncheon represents Seogwipo. Although it is stunning in the uplands, it is most visited at its charming estuary where Soessokkak is found.
