On Feb. 22, 2014 Jeju Furey held its fifth bowling tournament at WooSung Bowling Alleys, Jeju City. From 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., teams competed in head-to-head bowling matches to determine who would be crowned this year’s best bowling team.
With 24 teams participating, the 96 bowlers plus 5 volunteers made the day the great success it was. The tournament was designed in a lotto-ladder style, with teams adding up their numbers of pins knocked down as well as being able to earn points in match-ups between bowlers on opposing teams.
Congratulations to the winning team, Tursexxxy, made up of the bowling talents of Jay Mohammed, Billy Fidanovski, Kim Dahye and Kim Jihyeon. Their skills were unbeatable as they scored a total of 66.5 points and knocked down over 2,200 pins! Additional congratulations to runners-up Sparing is Caring and third place winners Spare Ribs.
The Bowling5 tournament was a very special day for Jeju Furey as it became Furey’s highest-grossing bowling tournament, bringing in 1,353,600 won for the organization’s beneficiary families. Also, that Saturday was Furey’s official announcement of the addition of a third Furey Family to its beneficiary list, which you can read about in more detail in the Jeju Weekly soon.
A big ‘thanks’ goes out to host WooSung Bowling and JDC’s Bowling Club members who helped Jeju Furey not only secure WooSung Bowling as a location but also sponsored the tournament by covering the bowling shoe rental fees. Bowlers also enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Stephanie Hennington and Erin Gallogly. Other notable thanks go to Albert Oh for his major role in helping organize the tournament; Erin Gallogly, Elle Lucademo, Kendra Pugh, and Dominique Le Breton for their delicious baked goods; and Burger Trip, WaBar, Island Stone, The FryPan, Chuncheon Dalkgalbi, Momaejeon Garden, 5Avenue, Zipline Adventures, and JustPlay Board Games for their donated prizes for winners and the raffle draw.
Finally, thank you to all participants, volunteers, and spectators that helped to make Jeju Furey Bowling5 another success in the record books.
